Almansa and Caudete form the eastern tip of the province, on the natural route towards Valencia and Alicante. Almansa is an industrial footwear town, with its castle on the rock and its own hospital; Caudete, right next to Villena, looks as much towards Alicante as towards Albacete.

Which way it goes

Albacete is a crossroads: the A-31 runs down to Alicante via Almansa and Villena, the A-35 branches off at Almansa towards Xàtiva and Valencia, and the A-30 leads to Murcia via Hellín and Cieza. Westwards the road crosses La Mancha to Ciudad Real, and northwards it climbs to Cuenca by way of the A-3.

Alicante-Elche airport, at El Altet, is the reference airport for many people from Albacete, because of distance and the number of destinations. It is reached on the A-31 without entering Alicante city.

When demand peaks

• Holidays and the beach (Easter, summer and Christmas): At the start of the holidays, transfers to Alicante, Valencia and Murcia airports multiply, on top of those to Barajas, and early flights mean leaving at night. It is best to book as soon as you have your ticket.

Tip: For the river Mundo or Alcalá del Júcar, agree the return time when booking: there are no taxis or buses to sort it out on the spot.

Airport pickup

For arrivals, the driver waits in the terminal with a name sign and helps with your luggage. We track the flight number, so a delay costs nothing extra within the terminal’s complimentary waiting time.

For early flights
